Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi met with NTA officials on October 2, 2026 to review exam readiness as the government continues weighing a shift of NEET UG to Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, with focus on exam security, candidate experience, and coordination across the testing ecosystem. The ministry reiterated that while a CBT shift remains under consideration, a final decision will follow the report of the Nandan Nilekani-led task force on examination reforms. Separately, AICTE has been collecting infrastructure details from government institutes as part of the planning process. No rollout year or exam pattern has been officially confirmed yet.
